    So apparently this plugin is not maintained anymore and I am looking for a good alternative. Can anyone recommend something?
    Please only self-hosted GDPR-compliant solutions and nothing that connects the user to any third party server.

    You can try compilebin. It is very elegant with additional functionality to execute code snippets.

    It looks like this loads the code from an external site, which is not allowed without user consent under GDPR.
