I would like users to access data (ie: approx a few hundred digital images and transcriptions for some of these images) of a digital archive exhibition via the following type of interface:
1) A series of thumbnail images and when clicked on, they bring up a page with the bigger (jpeg) version of the image and transcription text
2) A calendar customised to the year (early 20th century) of the archive. When the user clicks on each date, it will bring up the aforementioned image and transcription text
3)Perhaps a third way for the user to access this data would be via a menu
I would be grateful for any advice or online tutorial links re the above three issues, as I am having difficulty finding same via searches on Google. I would also be interested in suggestions for alternative ways of accessing/displaying the data.
