Another user with a <!– more –> tag problem

So, I did a search and turned up a number of topics, among them:

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/312040But none of them resolved the problem. In the meantime I can just use the_excerpt() instead of the_content() (which might be safer for the other users making posts regardless), but I’m curious why it might not be working.
