Support » Theme: Kadence » Another Hamburger Mobile Menu Issue

  • I am experiencing inconsistent results trying to implement the hamburger menu on Kadence.

The hamburger menu works flawlessly when I test it on my desktop, in both the theme customization preview window or using Chrome dev tools. It also works on desktop Firefox.

But getting it to work on a mobile device is frustrating to say the least.

For the most part it will not work on the home page. I have to navigate to an article or category before the hamburger menu will function, and even then it doesn’t work consistently. And it’s not consistent across mobile browsers either—I’m using Chrome, Safari, and Ecosia. Sometimes it will work on one browser but not the other two, sometimes it works on two but not one, and rarely it will work on all three for a few minutes before it stops working altogether. Even after clearing the cache in the browsers, Ezoic, and Cloudflare, closing the site, closing the browsers, etc.

    Current plugins:
Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights
    MailChimp Forms by MailMunch
    Yoast SEO

I’ve deactivated/deleted every plugin I had except the above.

I don’t know if this is a result of the inconsistent mobile functionality, but the only design settings the Off Canvas menu does seem to work (on mobile) are the following:
    – Layout: Full Width
    – Animation: Scale
    – Content Align: Right
    – Content Vertical Align doesn’t seem to matter

If I try the Side Panel layout it works flawlessly on desktop but breaks on mobile (the site moves as if the menu is sliding out, but no menu slides out), even if I was just using Full Width without issue. If I try to use the Fade or Slice animation, same thing.

It all works perfectly on desktop.

This is the one thing standing between me and a Kadence subscription, because if the site can’t be mobile friendly, there’s no point in sticking with Kadence.

Are there other solutions in Kadence to making a mobile friendly menu?

I noticed someone else fixed this by disabling the Script Execution settings in Ezoic’s Leap toolset. I switched it off yesterday and it is still off, so no dice.

The most common issues with anything like a popout a collapse or anything that requires javascript come from when something has broken javascript. Meaning something caused an error in the browser and then nothing that requires javascript works constantly. This wouldn’t be specific to the mobile menu it would be anything else that also has that interactive element.

When I inspect your website I see errors in your console log:

    Here is what I see:

You shouldn’t have anything red in your console log. When you do it creates inconsistent issues that effect everything that has to do with javascript. Browser are getting better at continuing to work even when some scripts break but your description sounds like you have issues caused by a plugin on your site and the javascript they are adding.

By best guess is that is Ezoic because it seems like every time I turn around in support people are having issues with Ezoic.

Thank you for the thoughtful response, Ben.

I managed to get the hamburger menu to function properly across browsers and devices, but it is worrisome that Ezoic is the source of these and so many issues. I wasn’t seeing those errors in my console log earlier as I was just looking on Chrome where I’m logged into WordPress so Ezoic is disabled.

I’ll start digging into the Ezoic side to see how people are handling these errors.

    Thank you again, Ben.
