# Another failed install.php

 * hey folks. I can’t seem to establish a database connection when installing WP
   2.0.6 with MySQL 5.0.27 64-bit on Mac OS X
    i have entered the correct user, 
   password and dbname into the config file, which is otherwise unmodified, and 
   i can log in to mysql as that user/password from the command line and sucessfully
   do a “use db <dbname>” command, but the install.php says it can’t connect to 
   the database at all. it’s a brand new install, not an upgrade. any ideas?

 * I’ve since tried going back to 4.1.9 32-bit, and my old databases, my old installation
   of WordPress 2.0 on a virtual host that responds to ‘localhost’ in the apache
   config. And still nothing. Again i can log in to mysql on the command line and
   do stuff as the username given to wordpress.

 * Mac OS X does something stupid with localhost it seems: use 127.0.0.1 instead
   from PHP.
