    Hi Massimo,

WordPress Popular Posts updates the views count of your posts & pages via the REST API and it seems your security plugin is blocking its requests.

@paultgoodchild, author of the Shield Security Plugin, said on another topic:

I honestly have no idea… it could be any plugin that using the API anonymously and getting blocked.

Do you know what he means with “using the API anonymously”?

Hector yes i understand this is happening.

As for your question, sorry i have no idea about all that.

In that case I’m afraid I’m not sure what I can do to help. It’s Shield Security that’s blocking WPP’s requests (why does SS block requests to the API that originate from the same domain?) Hopefully Paul or someone from the SS team will chime in and lend a hand.

Alternatively, you could just follow their suggestion:

(…) please turn off the anonymous api restriction under Lockdown module.

I’m posting the above to The Shield topic also.

You have a point saying that the api is on the same domain. Still the error (BLOCKED) says that other IPs also are blocked for that reason. Google Bot for example.

Anyway, that is all I can do.

    Thanks !!

Yeah, blocking access from external domains makes sense. However, blocking plugins and themes installed on the same domain will cause this kind of issues so it might be a good idea to provide an option to globally allow access in this case.

Hector if you have the time check Paul’s reply:

    Hey @massimod!

Just left a comment in that topic.

I’m marking this topic as resolved for now since it seems there’s nothing I can do to keep Security Shield from blocking WPP’s API requests.

    Sure, and thanks !!!
