I have uninstalled the old Recurring Donations plugin from my WordPress and deactivated the license, but this annoying message is still popping up:

Activation Error: Please update the Recurring Donations add-on to version 1.9.4+ in order to be compatible with GiveWP 2.5.5+. If you are experiencing this issue please rollback GiveWP to 2.5.4 or below using the WP Rollback plugin and contact support for prompt assistance.

The plugin is deleted from my WordPress, the license is deactivated, but the message still pushes me to buy your really ovepriced plugin I don’t have installed in my WordPress anymore. Is this a joke? How can I get rid of this message? It’s still popping up in all over my dashboard on every page.

    Hi @nephalem,

We patched one issue in 2.5.6 that ended up causing this new issue for folks who don’t have Recurring Donations installed. We are working now to release 2.5.7 which patches this issue. In the meantime the only way to make that error message hide is to roll the plugin back to version 2.5.4 using the WP Rollback plugin.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rollback/

We will have version 2.5.7 released today to resolve this issue with finality.

    Thanks for reaching out.

No way, no chance, I give …up. I had to revert back to Give 2.5.4 but as I noticed, according to the change list there’s a security issue that has been fixed in 2.5.5, so now I can just wait who will hack my site. Thanks, really thanks.

Edit: Thanks for your reply. I hope this issue will be fixed soon.

    Hi @nephalem

We released version 2.5.7 of Give itself moments ago which resolves this issue.

If you don’t have access to the dashboard, you’ll need to temporarily deactivate Give manually by accessing your files via FTP and changing the name of the plugins/give directory temporarily, loading the site, and then change the name of the directory back. Your web host should be able to help with this if you don’t know how to do that.

Once you get in, go ahead and update Give core to 2.5.7 first, and then any add-ons.

Before doing that, just to be safe I’d recommend taking a backup of the site that you can confidently restore from. Here’s an article we wrote that explains more clearly how to do that: https://givewp.com/backup-for-faster-troubleshooting/

All known issues are resolved in the latest versions of everything. If you are not seeing an update to 2.5.7 of Give itself as well as 1.9.4 of Recurring Donations and 2.2.1 of Stripe premium (if applicable) then make sure to go to Dashboard > Updates and click “check again,” as well as the license page at Donations > Settings > Licenses and click “refresh licenses”

We’re very sorry for the inconvenience caused by the botched update, and are working even now to implement new testing procedures to eliminate these issues in future updates.

Let me know if I can clarify further, and if the updates don’t resolve things, please do respond here and we’ll jump on it.

    Thank you, it’s fixed now.
