Many things we fixed/made better. v1.4 should be available in a couple of days:

    – Enhancement: added an example of Tiny Forge child theme. This will make easy for users to modify the look of their website and retain the changes after update of parent theme. It will also encourage users to start experimenting with the child theme idea. (inc/tinyforge-child-theme-example.zip)

    – Enhancement: display custom headers for posts and pages even if main header is disabled. Custom headers for posts and pages are assigned as a “Featured Image”. This changes default behaviour, when removing header image (Admin Panel Menu > Appearance > Header) would disable header globaly.

    – Enhancement: changed get_template_directory_uri() (%s) to get_stylesheet_directory_uri() (%2$s) in custom-header.php. This plays role in defining location of the default header images. It will make life easier for child theme creators, who can replicate default header images folder and replace default images with custom ones.

    – Enhancement: updated tinyforge.pot file for better localization.

    – Enhancement: added French translation – BIG thanks to Dolordo – http://wordpress.org/support/profile/dolordo

    – Enhancement: updated code comments to reflect WP inline docs standards (via Twenty Twelve – http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/25256 ).

    – Enhancement: changed top menu dropdown arrow for items with submenus to less visually invasive type.

    – Enhancement: removed bottom border from a single attachment page.

    – Enhancement: updated code for inserting author avatar (via Twenty Twelve).

    – Enhancement: added additional custom header images to make random image option more obvious.

  • I found your theme after reading this announcement. This theme is really beautiful clean and light and liked it and it very nice that you are developing and improving it. I just want to know is it possible to use Google fonts in this theme without installing additional plugins like “web fonts” or etc? And if its not possible currently, are you going to add this feature in the following versions?

Hi, DC, thanks for your encouragement!

I would say the easiest way to add Google fonts support is a plugin:

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-google-fonts/

But I will investigate the options. Most likely it would be commented-out function.php code, that users could enable themselves.

Currently Tine Forge uses Open Sans from Google fonts. I guess if you want to replace main font, then it would be easy. But if you want to use several fonts, then yes, we would need additional code.

I will add Google Fonts support to v.1.4.1 as an optional code that users can enable.

Do not forget that loading many fonts will slow your site down 😉

I also just saw this announcement and will definitely be taking a look at your Tiny Forge theme I have just installed at my sandbox site. At first glance via “Live Preview”, it is quite impressive.

I will add Google Fonts support to v.1.4.1 as an optional code that users can enable.

Its very nice to hear it. I am really waiting for version 1.4.1. I hope you release it in next days 🙂

For some reason new version 1.4 was approved about 5 days ago, but it is still not live… most likely people at WP are working hard to push through that new WP 3.7 🙂

If you don’t want to wait couple more days for the official release, it’s here: http://wordpress.org/themes/download/tiny-forge.1.4.zip

    P.S. I’m still adding things to v1.4.1 😉

    Hello,
How can I add an image to a post summary that appears on my homepage? Thanks

Looks yummy 🙂 But not now, will wait for the end of Lent 😉

    Here’s the tutorial:

Otherwise if you want to add full image, you may modify that code, or create a special excerpt text with included image and post it in post editor’s excerpt box.

Thank you! It worked. Can I make the image larger and align it left?

I updated tutorial, check it out.

Also it appears that you didn’t add CSS rules yet.
