Support » Plugin: WP jQuery Lightbox » Animation vs FadeIn

  • Using WP jQuery Lightbox version 1.4.8.
    On the Settings page there is an “Animation duration (in milliseconds)” setting. Apparently this Animation setting concerns 2 different features:
    a) the “animation” itself, when clicking on an image, the image drops down into position from the top of the screen ;
    b) when navigating from one image to the next (or previous), the screen goes blank for the set duration before the next image is displayed. That blank screen is very distracting, so I prefer to set “Animation duration” to zero.

    I do not care much for the “drop-down” feature. But what I would really like is a proper FadeIn/FadeOut feature, possibly with a duration setting. Something like the Slideshow FadeIn feature available in NextGEN Gallery, NextCellent Gallery and many others. I want image #1 to be gradually replaced by image #2, with a brief superposition of the two images for less than a second.

    The same remark goes for the Slideshow feature of WP jQuery Lightbox.

    What I do not understand is that there seems to be a call to FadeIn somewhere in the WP jQuery Lightbox jquery.lightbox.js line 124:
    $("#overlay").hide().css({width: pageSize.pageWidth + 'px', height: pageSize.pageHeight + 'px', opacity: opts.overlayOpacity}).fadeIn(400);

    Any ideas how to introduce proper FadeIn in this plugin?

    Thanks in advance!
