Hi there, have followed steps 100% and animation (oam) uploaded fine other than an “Auto detection of stage dimensions failed: Unable to spot stage variable.” error. I cannot see my animation on the page at all 🙁 It is a christmas fun animation just to add some cheer to our company site, but it just won’t view. I don’t know if it has something to do with the ‘friendly’ error in the yellow uploaded successfully block? Please help, would really be appreciated!

    Hi,

in some cases it won’t work if the plugin can’t find the stage variable in the code. Did you do some custom coding? Did you try the example OAM from the tutorial? Please try this one to make sure everything else works, then we can take a look at your composition and why it’s not detecting the stage var.

No, no custom coding. I will try the example and let you know. Thanks 🙂

ok, I think I know the problem. My animation was originally done in flash, and converted to html 5… I just created a sample animation in edge from scratch and that worked fine 🙁 guess I need to rather use a Sprite Sheet in Edge and see if that works.

Ok, good that you know where the problem is. How was it converted to HTML5 and how did you get it into egde animate?

I used a CS6 extension (Toolkit) and just publish it as JS … called CreateJS. Very handy. Then you just open up the html in edge. Pity it doesn’t work here, but it is very handy elsewhere 😀

Now you got me interested, never dealt with compositions done in flash via ea. Would it be possible that you sent me the OAM (edge@timm-jansen.de)? Then I can take a look and check where it goes wrong. Talked to Grant Skinner on a couple of occasions, am pretty sure we could get this to work if we had a real use case.

I will send it through 😀 would be awesome if it could work!

Oh dear… I think it may actually just be my transparent background that is the issue! The flash animation may actually if there is an actual background!

may actually ‘work’ that is :S

Ah no 🙁 apparently not… sorry for the rambling. Still a problem of sorts.

    Hi,
sorry, was a bit busy. I checked the oam and it is basically a canvas in the main html file, which happens to also contain edge animate scripts. How did you set this up? Did you follow a tutorial? As it is right now I don’t see the benefits of using edge for this. Can you sent me the files that the createjs extension generated. So far there is no way the wp plugin can support this as it’s all canvas and the setup of the scripts is totally different.

Am closing this issue as canvas support won’t be on the roadmap for some time. Createjs exports aren’t directly related to Edge Animate and are therefore a bit of a different use case.
