Hi, I see my last topic was marked resolved but it wasn’t– I’m still having the issue and now I have more information on perhaps why.

I was talking about how some elements disappeared when viewing them from different devices. I’ve discovered that almost all elements with any type of animation attached to them will not show up at all when viewing in Chrome on my iPhone 11 Pro. I’d like to fix these stories ASAP but I wanted you to be able to see the issue first.

My newest story I’m having this issue with: https://slashedbeauty.com/web-stories/budget-friendly-wavy-hair-routine/

This story was absolutely fine before the update (I viewed it many times), and now half of it is missing when viewing from my phone. https://slashedbeauty.com/web-stories/how-to-apply-fake-lashes/

If you could let me know once you’ve seen this topic and the issue so that I can go in and temporarily disable animations, that’d be great.

@slashedbeauty Hello! Thanks for raising this issue again. Hopefully, we can identify the issue or figure out a resolution.

I was able to view your stories successfully on iPhone 11 Pro in Chrome. Is there any way for you to record the issue you are seeing?

On what page/slide are you noticing the issues with elements?

    Hi Luckyna,
Thanks for your reply. I’m glad you can see them okay. I’ve screen recorded both stories I linked to and uploaded the files in this drive folder:

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1VKxgS-9CzQdY2TCTPJ2wCn1Tws1cSWk5?usp=sharing

You can compare them to see that some pages look totally blank because all elements have animations, others are missing other vital elements like text, titles, or background shapes. This is on my iPhone 11 Pro in Chrome — I also have auto update for all my apps so I’m on the latest version of Chrome (90.0.4430.78) AND the latest version of iOS (14.5.1).

@slashedbeauty Thank you for the recording!

Could you log out and check out your story in an incognito Chrome tab on your phone? Does the issue still occur?

Hi– logged out of chrome and wordpress in incognito mode, the issue persists.

Another update: the following story was featured in my own Google discover within the google app on iOs today:

and I had the same problem– any animated elements were not visible.

@slashedbeauty Could you check if you have the following iOS setting enabled:
Settings -> Accessibility -> Motion -> Reduce Motion?

Could you please try to disable this to check if the elements with animations work for you when the setting is disabled?

    Hi Luckyna,
This worked!! Now the question is: will this be fixed in an update so that animations still work on Reduce Motion? It’s a widely used feature to turn on to save battery on iPhones, listed in a ton of iPhone tip articles so I’d hate to have a huge portion of savvy iPhone users not be able to see stories correctly.
