    Hi again,

While I was working on the thumbnails generated by the shortcode, I realised that I wasn’t able to use an animated gif thumbnail, ie. when uploaded, it only shows the first image in the animation.

I was wondering if there was any way to set up the shortcode so that for each post thumbnail it shows an random array/rotation of the images that are attached to the post, or an animated gif?

    Thanks in advance.

My plugin is not processing the shortcode in any different way.

How are you generating the thumbnails and shortcode? Are you using any other plugins?

I have generated the animation using an external software which converts the multiple images into an animated gif which I save onto my computer. I then upload the gif into my WordPress image library and set it as the ‘Featured Image’ for the post within the post itself. I assume this is the image that the Posts by Tag plugin uses as the thumbnail for the listings?

I am not using any other plugin for generating the animated thumbnail. I use the shortcode provided by Posts by Tag to list the posts.

Does the animated gif appear properly on the normal posts page?

I guess when you select a gif as featured image, it is cropped again by WordPress.

Yes, it does appear in a post if I use the animation. I will try to configure it so that the animation is the same size of the WordPress thumbnail and see if that makes a difference.

    Thanks for your help.

I managed to get this to work by making the image thumbnails in the animation the same size as the WordPress thumbnail. Thanks for your help.
