• Hi
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but it’s worth a try! If not, maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a job to create a new website for a customer who sells blinds, shutters, etc.

I can create one using WordPress and available themes.
However, I got an idea into my head, and I want to know how difficult (or not) it would be to create, and if there are any tools you could suggest that I try out. I am thinking about something like this site http://www.sugarlandchapelhill.com/ where the pictures are animated when you hover over them. I thought it would be cool on the homepage to have the shutters open and close, and the blinds open and close when you hover over them.

Am I making life too complicated for myself, or is it something I could have a go at?

    I appreciate your suggestions!!!

    Nicola

  • The technical side of this is fairly easy. The hardest part would be making the animations, but if you’re an illustrator (or can hire one), go for it.

Essentially, you have your default image, and a second image that’s animated. Use a .gif image, as they can be animated (I wrote an article on image optimization that might help you).

You’ll have to use the HTML tab in the WordPress editor, because you’ll be inserting your own link code (I don’t think WP can automatically insert this code). But yeah, it’s definitely doable.

Hmmm thanks for that! I might just look into it a bit more!
