Ancient avatar keeps showing up!

  • I’ve noticed that whenever I leave a comment on someone’s blog, an avatar I used a few years ago shows up, instead of my current photo. Yet, if I comment on my OWN blog (in response to someone else’s comment), a photograph of me correctly shows up. The problem is ONLY when I comment on someone else’s blog. I’ve gone to the “discussion” tab of my settings, and everything appears to be marked correctly. The strange thing is, the avatar in question has long been deleted from my account.

Tell me, is it possible that WordPress intuitively inserts this avatar into comments, since I’m using the same email address that I had when I was using the avatar? In other words, is an email address forever associated with the avatar you used when you open an account?

P.S. I just noticed after posting this comment on the forum that the avatar I’m trying to GET RID OF appears by my name. Where in the heck is this coming from??

  • Oops! I believe I have just answered my own question. A little thing called gravatar.com. I forgot this existed. I’ve just gone in to change my picture. Let’s see if this works.

Yes, I believe it will work, but I need to give it a few minutes. I just realized I’m having a conversation with myself!

    My apologies, gang.
