Support » Fixing WordPress » Anchor to a footnote

I’m posting, and have two references at the end of it, to scientific articles/abstracts. I’m trying to make an anchor link from the superscripts (“1” and “2”) to drop down to the precise abstract associated with each. It seems there’s nothing in WYSIWYG to let me do that. I have tinyMCE Advanced plugin but it only does half the job. I can name the anchor at the bottom, but there appears to be nowhere to choose “anchor” up above, only a link button, which offers one option: going to another page altogether.
The plugin developer said in one comment, a few versions back, that he considers this “old school” and out of vogue, so I don’t expect much development there.

So, I’m left with two options, it appears:
    1. Find another plugin to do the work, or
    2. Dive into the vast unknown of coding, which I’d be willing to try, but I’d need a fair amount of handholding.

Any help would be most welcomed.

Have you tried this plugin – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/fd-footnotes/
I haven’t tried it myself, but it looks like it could be useful.

    Hey Christine,
This looks like the perfect answer. Unfortunately, it appears to be not updated for WP 3.5. I’ll tell the dev, but thanks. Elegantly simple, if I can get it to work!

Correction: I think it does work, I just pasted in a huge scientific footnote and it choked, until I went back and did “paste as plain text” and it handled it. Thanks! This is brilliant!
