Anchor tag automatically adds line break in Text Widget

  • Using the <a> anchor tag in-line in the text widget results in automatically inserted line breaks, though the code is not visible in the widget on the back end.

    NO, I am not using “Automatically add paragraphs”, and yes, it is NOT checked.

    Site: AJ Coffee Company

    Example: center footer widget entitled, “Educate Yourself”.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    There appears to be something in the CSS in your theme causing this by telling the links in that widget area to display as block elements.

    This can be overidden by adding something like:

    .textwidget a {display: inline!important;}

    to the end of the stylesheet, however a better solution would be to find the specific existing rule that needs to be removed or changed.

    I don’t know why I didn’t even bother to look for theme issues. You were correct. I appreciate the response. 🙂
