Well, external links means a different domain. It looks like you are using both book-a-go-go.com and bookagogo.com on the same website so links to book-a-go-go.com while on bookagogo.com will be considered external.

But these are anchor links, with no other domain. And a new tab opens no matter which domain I’m on.

It does’t matter, if the domain is different than the one the URL bar they will get opened in a new tab 🙁

    Hi Alexandru,

Thank you for your response. However, after further testing, here’s what I found:

    1. The problem affects only anchor links (#section), even on the same domain. External links are behaving as expected, but internal anchor links open in a new tab, which they shouldn’t.
    2. Anchor links should never open in a new tab by default. They do not point to an external domain, so they should not be treated as external links. If your plugin applies target="_blank" to all links indiscriminately, is there a way to exclude anchor links from this behavior?

I appreciate your help in resolving this. If you have specific debugging steps I should follow, please let me know. Otherwise, I’d appreciate confirmation on whether this is expected behavior from your plugin and if there’s a setting to adjust it.

Well, anchor links should definitely not be excluded by default for external links as one might link to some specific anchor on a different website.

But getting back to your issue, I don’t see the issue anymore (See screenshot: https://prnt.sc/6-EyhIVF683L ) Only the external link opens in a new tab.

It does seem to work as expected now. Not sure what changed.
