    Hello,

Ever since I installed the plugin, most search engine traffic is now showing up as direct traffic (I have it set to auto-refresh after user clicks ok).

    Thank you

    Hello,

I just found out that it was because I had set the page to reload after accepting.

    Thank you

    Hi wpuser000,

We tried to replicate the issue but were not successful. We tried to access our test/dev website directly via the browser address bar and also via a referral link. In both these instances, the GA dashboard source/medium indicated direct and referral respectively. It seemed to be ok even during the reload.

I just tested it out and noticed that for repeat visitors who had already accepted the cookie in the past, a Google referral is correctly attributed. It’s only for first-time visitors accepting our site cookies for the first time that a Google referral shows up as direct traffic.

This article seems to be saying that this is a normal unavoidable side effect of any gpdpr plugin though:

However, a side effect of some of the settings of these plugins might include

    • No source of traffic: you will have 100% direct traffic.

Except for users who agree to be tracked, leave the site, and then come back within 30 days (this is the cookie limit for notice dismissal).
