An update failed, now my site is gone

I was in the middle of a routine WordPress update when the update failed! Now the entire site is down, and I can’t even get into the wp-admin page.

After that, the site went down. HTTP ERROR 500.

I even went thru all of the troubleshooting documentation – nothing has worked so far.

I still have FTP access to the folder & all of the files, but that’s it.

As for the database, I don’t even know where to access that. This isn’t even regular hosting; this is on a private company server. All I know about the hosting is that it’s Linux based. I don’t know anything about how cPanel or phpMyAdmin work, or whether they’re set up or not.

I couldn’t even get anything from our hosting providers as they offer minimal support.

I have no clue what to do to fix this or even how to proceed.

This is a huge site, and months of work has gone into this – all wiped out because of a lousy failed update. Am I screwed? 🙁
