Support » Installing WordPress » An unexpected error occurred. When trying to search for plugins

  • Resolved kantill

    New to the wordpress world and have a new install of wordpress IIS 7. When I try to search for plugins I get this error “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums”. I have check to see if its the firewall blocking it but I don’t see any data from either the server or the workstation trying to go out. Is there any logs or something that I can turn to daig this issue.

  • Maybe IIS 7 is not configured to access external site for installation? For debug info, might wanna check this out

    Actually I found the reason was that wordpress wasn’t send the info out unless I added in the proxy info in the config. Now before any of you say we of course we have a route statement that sends all data that wasn’t sent to the proxy to go out another firewall and it wasn’t going there either.

    I am not familiar with IIS, but looks like it’s IIS and Windows settings related problem. Don’t know if this had to do with your problem:

    Like I said I fixed it already and it wasn’t IIS or windows both of those are hosting other sites outside of wordpress with no issues.
    I had to add the following into the wp-config.php file,
    define(‘WP_PROXY_HOST’, ‘x.x.x.x’); “x being the ip of the proxy”
    define(‘WP_PROXY_PORT’, ’80’);

    otherwise it wasn’t sending the request out.

    Truthfully the only reason we have it on the server is for the web programer to create a blog for the employees. But thanks for the help.

    Sorry I missed that. Glad it worked out and thanks for sharing the info, might be useful in the future for me.
