    Hey all,

Having trouble with WordPress as of a week and a half ago. Site is stevivor.com.

The site occasionally throws up the following (super unhelpful, ultra generic) message in the backend (not always, but sometimes):

Notice: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home/######/public_html/wp-includes/update.php on line 120

    (I've "######" my database name.)

I'm also having trouble with image uploads; they usually do upload properly, but sometimes the site throws up a general error. If I save my post draft and head back into "Add an image", it's always there, properly uploaded.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Steve

I'm sure I'll get roasted for double posting, but I've no idea what to do with this. Any help, anyone?

Did you try to update WP a week and a half ago?

It was happening with 3.8, and is still with 3.8.1. :)

    Update on this:

It's intermittent, but at times, I can tell I have plugin updates, and other times I can't -- and that's where the errors described above are listed.

Is it a timeout? I've looked at the lines in update.php, but they're literally the one's being reported. I don't know enough about what the file is trying to do to figure it out.

    Another update:

I've seemed to track down the above problems, in addition to image upload and "connection lost" errors in WordPress when we have multiple users logged into the backend, creating posts and uploading images.

    This issue didn't happen pre-3.8.

    Any ideas, anyone?

I'm having the same issue, started with 3.8 and continues with 3.8.1

    Would also appreciate a solution?

Same problem for me s well. I'm on a fresh installation of 3.8.1 based on the Bedrock framework and running a Roots theme. I'd appreciate a solution.

    @frebro
In the future please start your own thread.

In the past this error has been caused by a server configuration problem. Please check with your host.

Since you are not using a theme downloaded from http://wordpress.org/themes/ you won't find support on this forum. If it is a theme error you should try for support from the developer.

I have the same error on all my WordPress sites including with very commune themes and did not find the solution to this issue after trying to change the speed of the port or other trials together with my server hosting support.

Please see my post on this other thread - its a solution that was easy and worked for me instantly. nothing to do with servers or code.
