  • Er yeah. So I go to my blog, and I get this error.

    “Error establishing a database connection

    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?”

    Anyone know how to fix this? I don’t. Xx; The URL is homocidalsquirrel.com.

  • Well, first: was it working before? Or is this a brand new install?

    Answers to those please, then we’ll go on from there.

    It was working fine before…
    And then the error showed up. o.o;;

    Okay…. if you yourself did NOTHING:

    Contact your host and inquire if they had:

    1. An upgrade to something on the server backend;

    or

    2. Some sort of outage and they backed up your installation from some seriously out-of-date backups, in which case you need to a: beat on them; and b: find a new host soonest.

    If you yourself did something, what did you do?

    AND: do you have a database dump (backup)? If not, ask your host when their latest backup of the database area on your account actually WAS. You might be able to get some of your stuff out of the database, assuming it’s still viable on the server.
