    Hi,

My site has been working fine for a long time with Paypal, but this week i guess since the latest update when you try and checkout using Paypal the customer sees error 3 on the checkout page

When you go to the Paypal plugin within woocommerce you get; An error occurred while trying to validate your API credentials. Unable to verify that your API credentials are correct.

I have deleted the API and created a new one, which gets the same error.

I have also disabled wordfence, just in case that was blocking it for whatever reason

    Any suggestions please.

  • well you are not alone. I have just had the same problem. The problem appears to have happened very recently ; I know it was working last week.
However, my plugin logs says the PayPal Checkout Payment Gateway for WooCommerce. was updated 4 days ago.

I have the same problem. Are there any other alternative plug-ins?

I tried PayPal plus a bit more complicated but also failed to authenticate, same with PayPal standard plugin.

I have raised a case with PayPal incase they can shed any light on it.

Same here. It was working fine until the update to PayPal Checkout Payment Gateway for WooCommerce it seems.
I also see “PayPal error (3): An error (3) occurred while processing your PayPal payment. Please contact the store owner for assistance.” when trying a live purchase.

Do you guys got any update on this?

    Also experiencing this. Any update?

I have the same problem since the update. Any ideas what we can do?

Whatever was causing my problem seems to have gone now. I did contact both my server and PayPal about the issue, so maybe one of them did something; its working again now and I’ve not done anything with the plugin.

Same, all working now. Must have been an issue Paypal’s end.

Yes sorted here, did any of you use tshost for Web hosting? As they finally admitted after a week of me chasing it was an issue at their end over the weekend.

    All sorted.

I had the same issue and I believe I have located the root cause. If you have yours go down again then I recommend seeing if your issue matches my post and then see the referenced Github pull request for the changes I made to the bundle.pem certificate to resolve this issue.
