I love Site Kit, however, sometimes there just a little bump every now and again.
    I got this …

An error occurred while running 'mapSelect': Cannot read properties of null (reading 'isGatheringData')
The error may be correlated with this previous error:
TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'isGatheringData')

Hi @stevenjram thanks for reaching out. Based on the details you kindly provided this error seems to be as a result of a configuration with an optimization plugin, possibly minification or combining of JavaScript assets.

When applied these JavaScript can result in unpredictable behaviour with other plugins, including the admin toolbar and Site Kit.

Are you currently using any optimization plugins and if so are you using any of the minify options for JavaScript/CSS for example? If so could you please try disable these settings and checking your Site Kit once more to see if you still get this error message. It looks like you may be using the Siteground optimizer plugin so it could be set in those settings.

If the issue remains or you are unsure about optimization plugins and settings then please share your Site Health information using our private form and I’d be happy to investigate further.

We have more details on a similar error on the plugin website. The error described here, which differs slightly, is also as a result of particular configurations applied from a caching or optimization plugin.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi Adam, excellent.

@adamdunnage you were exactly correct in your deduction, refreshing indeed.
SiteGround Optimiser is my preferred optimiser.
The setting were on to Minify CSS and Javascript and HTML output.

I tested each one, turning one by one off then testing Site Kit display.
Turns out, Minify CSS & HTML Output are fione and work properly with SiteGround Optimiser.

However, Minify JavaScript Files is not a fav and breaks Site Kit, hence the errors above.

Now things are working correctly again and I’m a happy camper.
Thanks for your insights and explanations Adam, made sense to me and your suggestion fixed the problems.

Now I’m just going to search for the JavaScript Files to exclude for SiteGrounds Optimiser and add those into the exclude list, just to take that extra step in minifying JavaScripts, but not Site Kits.

    Cheers,
    Thanks Adam.

@stevenjram Excellent! Glad to hear this was the cause and good idea excluding the Site Kit JS files. I will mark this topic as resolved but if you have any further issues do let us know and we will be happy to help.
