This morning I went in to print my shipping labels like I normally do and got the red banner error. I’ve checked settings and everything looks good. Nothing has changed. Credit Card is good.

An error occurred while purchasing the label.

    Hi there!

To assist you further, could you please go to WooCommerce → Status → WooCommerce Shipping, and check the Health section to see if any issues are listed there?

If you do see any issues, kindly share a screenshot or describe the message you see.

If everything appears fine, please enable the Debug mode toggle in the same section and check if any error messages related to labels appear.

Also, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

    • System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status
    • Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Please use https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com/ and share a link to that paste in reply here. Once we have more information, we’ll be able to assist you further.

    Hi @mspeptides,

Thanks for the update, it’s clear you’ve put a lot of effort into troubleshooting this.

Could you also check your browser’s console when the error occurs and share a screenshot of the Console tab? That can help us spot any issues happening in the background.

    Appreciate your help!

Nothing in the console… I did however, go into WordPress and delete one of the two cards on file. Both cards work and both have worked. After doing that, it started to work. Any idea why that would be?

    Hi there!

    Thanks for the update!

Just to clarify — when the issue occurred, did you have the same card selected for payment as the one you were using before the error appeared?

Also, just to verify, have you tried adding both cards again to see if the issue returns when both are on file? That could help confirm whether the problem was due to having multiple cards saved or something else.

I will try adding multiple cards when I can…

When the issue occurred I had two cards, credit card as primary (ran over $200 in shipping label purchases in Woo with it) and a Debit Credit card that was my old primary method, but now a backup. This is when the error occurred that caused me to open this case. Since these payment methods are connected to WordPress, I logged into my account and removed the primary Credit Card and left the Debit Credit card that was my old backup and the only card and now primary. Printing labels works..

Since then, I deleted that Debit Card and added the credit card back, and that still works.

So when I have another order to process I will try to add a second card and put it in the same configuration of primary / backup and try to print again. I will provide an update here when I do.

    Hi there!

Thank you for the detailed update — that’s very helpful.

It does sound like the issue may have been related to how the system was handling multiple payment methods, especially with changes to the primary and backup card configurations. It’s great to hear that printing labels is working now with the current setup.

Your plan to test again by re-adding a second card in the same configuration makes perfect sense. When you’re able to do that, feel free to share the results here — we’ll be happy to continue assisting based on what you find.

Since you issue has been resolved now, We’d truly appreciate it if you could share your positive experience with others by leaving a 5-star review on WordPress.org: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce-shipping/reviews/#new-post

Adding the second card back and it still works… We’ll see if it pops up again.. very strange.

    Hi @mspeptides,

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear it’s working for now.

If the issue comes back, please let us know—we’d be happy to take a closer look.

Ok it’s back a day later. After adding the second payment method back it worked fine yesterday and this morning. Now trying to print again and I get a red banner with an error.

I then went into WordPress profile and deleted the backup payment method and it started working again.

    Hi @mspeptides,

    Thanks for the update!

It’s helpful to know that removing the backup payment method resolved the issue again. If the error returns or you notice any patterns, feel free to share!

    Thank you.
