An easier, simple way to back up Word Press?

  • The ways I’ve seen to back-up Word Press seem very complex.

The instructions are written for people who have computing degrees!

They mention choices of saving different things, such as parts of Word Press.

Is there an easier way to back up your site site if it’s run using Word Press?

If your hosting provider uses cPanel, they’ll probably have a Backup Wizard that allows you to easily download backups of your databases (including WordPress’ database) and your entire home directory (which will include all of the WordPress files). Other hosting provider control panels may have similar options.

If you can’t find any such option, follow this guide to download the files (it doesn’t get much easier than simply downloading specific files as instructed):

And, follow this guide to backup your database with a plugin:

    No “computing degree” required.

Thanks for your response. I want to download 3.0.1 and replace my 2.9.2 and first, I need to save my WordPress. But I don’t understand things like FTP. And I don’t want to pay my host to do things for me. For right now, my host’s server isn’t updating my entires on my http://www.nkscouting.com website that my host just made for me. I’ll follow your directions. Thanks for your help. 🙂

I know, I read your previous thread. Backup first, then upgrade to 3.0.1, then we’ll fix the recent post problem if it still exists. Let us know if you have any trouble.
