Problems with CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) have been the biggest problem. Larger Content Display Element, I can’t see a solution for this. Also the appropriate size for the images. Practically all thumb amps are the wrong size. Everything I see points to the problem, but none of them provide the solution.

Thank you for reaching out to us again, The CLS is something that can be fixed by theme developers by optimizing it, it something that we can’t change with AMP plugin, here is guide to optimize CLS
The same goes for appropriate size images the theme need to adopt the changes, You are using newspaper theme with their custom AMP theme which overwrites AMP plugins Legacy theme.
I will recommend contacting your theme developers as they can guide you better on this!
