[Resolved] Amazon S3 plugin not compatible with WordPress 3.4. Alternatives?

  • Hi,

I’m setting up an instance of WordPress 3.4 on Heroku and am looking for a plugin that will store media files on S3, given that you can’t store to the filesystem on Heroku (well, you can, but files get wiped out when you redeploy). The Amazon S3 Uploads plugin seems to do precisely this, but it seems like it’s only compatible with WordPress up to version 3.3.2. What are my options here? Would I have to downgrade to 3.3.2? Are there other plugins available that are compatible? I also found WP2Cloud but that one requires MySQL to have ClouSE installed, which I don’t think is an option on Heroku.

    Thanks
    Ruy

  • Apparently the compatibility is not an issue. The reason the plugin was not showing up on my dashboard was because of file permissions. Upon download and unzipping, the directory and it’s contents were set to drwx——. Changing the permissions to drwxr-xr-x made the plugin show up.
