Alternative category views for the same category

Hi, I want to allow the user to choose what kind of view they see for any given category listing. Say they are viewing posts of category A, which displays [title], [excerpt] plus [date] in a list. I want to have a link at the top of the page to an alternative ‘gallery view’ which shows exactly the same posts, but displays [title], [image] plus [date]. Any suggestions about how I would go about doing this? I know how to make these different views based on different categories, but not as an option for the same category. Thanks.
