I was trying to see if there was a plugin or maybe coding I could do to create a ‘teaser’ to replace where the excerpt would preview posts on the front page. The teaser wouldn’t be in the actual post. Anyway to do this?

that can be done with custom meta fields. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_meta_box or if you prefer a plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/meta-box/
