Alt tags for images

  • WordPress version: 3.5
    WordPress SEO version: 1.3.4.1

I did this: Give alt tags to the pictures

I expected the plugin to do this: Give me a green light for alt tags

Instead it did this: Give me a red for alt tags and told me I need them.

My pictures are being used in a WP-Ecommerce store. I have the pictures titled and alt taged, but the SEO tool is telling me I need to add tags. Thoughts?

  • Hi, same problem here.

I did this: Give alt tags to the pictures, posted pictures as featured images.

I expected the plugin to do this: Give me a green light for alt tags

Instead it did this: Give me a red for alt tags and told me I need them.

When my pictures are inserted directly into the post, I get a green light for alt tags. When they are set as featured images I get a red light. My theme uses the featured image method. I have tested with default wordpress themes and zero other plugins. Thanks.

Mine are featured images too–they are actually products in an online store which are set up as featured images. I guess that is the problem. Thanks for the help!

It would still be good to know how to fix it though, right hpgray?
    Can anyone else help us?
why are Alt tags on featured images not recognised?
    Thanks
