Alt Tags – Editing Description

  • I’ve searched for hours trying to find the answer to my question without success, so let me ask for some help! It deals with the description that displays when the cursor hovers over a graphic on our website.

    Here’s our situation.

A website developer has set up our site with several graphics. When the description is displayed, it is the file name. We want to edit all of the graphics to give each a better description. For example – The file name of one graphic is fatcats-sm.jpeg and we want it to be Political Payoff.

When I go to Edit Media on the dashboard and enter Political Payoff in both the Title and Caption boxes and select Update Media, the description is not changed. The file name (fatcats-sm.jpeg) is shown next to the graphic as well as the date it was uploaded.

Is there a way short of deleting the graphics, changing the file names and re-uploading them to accomplish our goal?

    Thanks for your help!
    Ed
