    Hi kind folks,

Thank you in advance for your help!

I’m using WordPress 5.2 and I’m not sure what version of Mailchimp for WP. I just downloaded it yesterday (May 13, 2019).

The form is on my blog: http://www.discoverylaneblog.com

I can successfully add new subscribers – and they get the “yay you’re subscribed” message

I tried putting in an already subscribed email (my own – which is already listed on Mailchimp as opted-in and subscribed) and did not get the “you’re already subscribed” message. 🙁

And the third problem I’m guessing I have to go to MailChimp but I’ll ask anyway. 🙂 I took myself off the subscribe list so I could re-sign up to see what happens – and it gives me an error message. The log says I can’t subscribe because I have to re-subscribe with a MailChimp form. Isn’t the one on my blog a MailChimp form?

    Thank you so much!
    Tara 🙂

    Hey Tara,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Please check in the form settings if you have enabled the “Update existing subscribers” option. If this is enabled then the user will not see the “already subscribed error”.

MailChimp has setup restriction where if a user is unsubscribed, then they cannot be added using API (3rd party forms). You need to add them back using the forms provided by MailChimp.com only.

I hope that answers your query. Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Hi Harish,

Thanks for the help. I understand about the 3rd party forms – good to know. And the “update existing subscribers” was already enabled, but it seems to have magically started working Go figure!

    Thanks again!!!
    Tara 🙂
