    Hello.

I’ve seen you released a new version (2.0.3.) that checks if a user is already subscribed.

It’s not working and is just displaying the success message if I put the same email everytime, and it’s also counting as a conversion everytime I do.

Can you please look into it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,

Both of those are actually behaving as expected ( will give success & increment opt-in ) but won’t reset a subscriber to ‘pending’ from ‘confirmed’.

Please let us know if there is some other outcome that would be expected in this case and we will consider changing the plugin in the future

What I meant is if a user has already subscribed with a certain email, to display an error message of “already subscribed” if he attempts to re-enter the same e-mail.

    Hello there,

Currently this is the expected behavior of Optin Cat for MailChimp. Earlier Optin Cat would instead make the previously subscribed user disappear from MailChimp if they subscribe to the same list again by making it pending from confirmed status. This would be a annoyance to our users since they would lose subscribers this way. From this new update, you won’t lose any subscribers if they optin again to the same list but there will also not be a already subscribed message as we’ve found that this initiates additional request and performance overhead in between the MailChimp API and Optin Cat.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    To clarify,

The reason we just make it activate the thank you, rather then provide an already subscribed message, is because different users may be using different forms for different optin bait, or interest groups, but are adding subscribers to the same list.

For this reason we do not want our product to say ‘already subscribed’ because the subscription may need to be updated. We have resolved it so it will not make subscribers disappear from your lists when this happens though.

Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,
