Already created live wordpress site, how do I download locally?

    So I’ve already created a live WordPress site. I simply want to take files from that live WordPress site, so that I can work on them locally.

    When I try to go through using MAMP, it eventually asks me to a page to recreate the site again (localhost:8888). It takes me to the WordPress Welcome page that asks me for the “Site Title”, username, password, ect.

    I don’t want to create a new site. I want to take the site I have live and save the files locally for testing purposes. How can I go about doing this?
