Support » Plugin: Pods - Custom Content Types and Fields » Alphabetical order

I am busy building a website for a sports modeling agency.

I have created a field with all kinds of different sports that the model practices. That can be ATHLETIC, DANCE, FITNESS, KICKBOXING, AND TENNIS. In kickboxing, she excels because she has been doing that for years.

The customer would then like kickboxing to be at the forefront and then the other sports in which she is less good at.

The problem I face is that the system puts the sports in alphabetical order.

Is there a setting somewhere that I can change so that I can determine which sports will be at the forefront?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

What type of field did you use for the ‘sports’? If this is taxonomy, by default it will always be in name order. If you want to ‘weight’ a field above the others, you’d need to add an additional field for that term (if it’s taxonomy) that would make it more important. If this is a relationship field, you can use the List View format or the AutoComplete format and drag and drop the relationships into the order you’d like.

It also matters how you’re displaying these items. If you can provide me with additional details, I can help you out with getting them to work the way you’d like.

    Hello Jim,

I use the field type “Relationship”. Here I have created a list with all kinds of sports (see screenshot.

I have also seen that I can drag and drop the sports in order I want (see screenshot), but as soon as I click on the button “update”, it automatically changes to alphabetical order again.

Switch to ‘List View’ under Format from ‘Autocomplete’ (which is what I’m guessing you have at present).

The drag and drop should be protected in a relationship field.

    Hi Jim,

    Thanks for your response!

How can I protect the drag and drop relationship field?

I meant above that the drag and drop ‘order’ is protected (saved) in the List View Relationship field.

If you mean something else, please let me know.

    Hi Jim,

I have made a video and hopefully this video will explain more about the problem I have.

Sorry for some reason did not get notifications on your responses and since this was marked resolved it didn’t show up.

That appears to be a bug because the drag and drop order should be maintained.
