Aloft Media claiming patent infringement

    One of my clients received a letter from Aloft Media claiming that they were guilty of patent infringement by using the mouseover submenu feature used by the WordPress based Divi Builder and they want them to pay a licensing fee.

    We have disabled the mouseover menu on the live site ( https://www.ampacet.com ) until we can resolve this issue.

    If you wish I can send you a copy of the letter sent to my client.

    Are you familiar with Aloft Media and are you aware of any other WordPress or Divi users in a similar situation?

    Since you use a commercial plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations.

    Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

    Commercial products are not supported in these forums.

    FYI you should look into legal representation.

    Those are often patent trolls who go after the little guy (you) instead of the actual creator of the ‘infringement.’ Contact Divi directly, tell them you received this, but regardless they’re suing your client, your client needs a lawyer.
