Support » Installing WordPress » Almost installed…

  • I get through the installation and then get this error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘define’ (T_STRING) in /homepages/37/d462933070/htdocs/wordpress/wp-config.php on line 28

    What am I doing wrong??

    Thanks

  • While configuring your site, you probably deleted a ; in wp-config by accident. Look through your config file and make sure each line ends with ; and that all ‘ have a start and end.

Line 28 of wp-config.php is define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); there is no need to change this unless you are using a web host that requires something other then “localhost“. All Database information will be provided automatically when installing WordPress via a 1 Click Installer. If you are installing it manually, you will have to ask your host provider what is the correct Database Hostname they require.

You will find DB_Host information here for your specific web host: http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Possible_DB_HOST_values
