• Hello,

After installing the plugin I get this error at the WordPress back end:
It looks like you are running Apache. The most likely cause of your problem is that the AllowOverride directive has been disabled, either globally (httpd.conf) or in a VirtualHost definition. Contact your host for assistance.

This was the answer of the hosting company:
Hello, Thank you for contacting Technical Support team. The AllowOverride directive is disabled on our Share Hosting Environment. Due to the shared nature of the shared hosting, we are unable to activate it as it will affect not only your account but the other accounts on the server with which you share it. You can consider our VPS servers where you will have a private solution just for you and enable the AllowOverride directive can be enabled without any issues.

It’s a small website and VPS only for this not make sense. Might you have any suggestions?

    Cheers

    Hi @eitayz-

We use .htaccess rules applied to doc-related directories to protect attachments from being visible to everyone. If these rules are not respected (which is what Allow Override allows), attachments to private docs could be visible to people who do not have access to the doc. This might be an acceptable risk for your community.

    Best,

Thank you @dcavins for the fast replay 🙂
I don’t understand where those privet docs could be seen by the rest of the community?
    Thank you.

The doc itself will be protected from view, but any attachments to that doc could be viewed by anyone (the server has to protect access to files that are requested directly, that’s what .htaccess does) if they know the URL for the attachment.
