Allowing users to switch language – WordPress setup

Hello,

Sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn’t find a proper answer on the forums.

I would like users to be able to switch the entire site between french and english, from a link on my home page.

Do I need two separate wordpress installations that feature translated templates, pages, menu links, images and whatnot?

Or is there a simpler way to do this ? Thanks in advance.
