Love Slideshow SE but was wondering if there is an option to set up a slideshow that allows a mobile user to swipe right/swipe left to view each slide rather than using the arrows.

Not out of the box, there isn’t.

No, but I will happy review a pull request. I’m mostly keeping this thing alive (i.e. security issues and WP changes), not implementing new functionality.
