Allow me to add an iframe to my post

  • WordPress is removing the iframes from my posts – arg! help! I’m trying to update an old page with some youtube iframes, and now its a big drama and I’ve wasted nearly an hour trying to figure out how to stop it from doing this. Self hosted wordrpess, with admin user account.

    That’s because iframes are E-V-I-L! 😉

    Kidding. It’s the Visual Editor that’s giving you grief. If you keep using it for inserting raw HTML (even using the HTML tab) then you’ll keep getting frustrated.

    That editor is good for something like 99% of the user base but it will mung any HTML that you try to insert by hand. The HTML tab really is for making small adjustments.

    You can disable it for your account on your WordPress installation.

    Check on ‘Disable the visual editor when writing’.

    Or you can insert that iframe code via a shortcode but you’ll need to code that functionality.

    Why not just put in the youtube video URL?

    WordPress will magically transmute that into the video 🙂
