  • Uploaded new 2.0 version… all seemed to go OK. When I go to
Administration >> Options >> miscellaneous… there is no “Allow
    file uploads” box

  • It has changed.
Go to Write to see the upload.

So, how do I change the upload directory?

    Anyone? Anyone?

I also have another comment–the new file upload feature isn’t very intuitive. I fiddled with the damn thing for several minutes and couldn’t work out how to get the thing to dump any code into the text field.

I really like much of the changes in 2.0, but a couple don’t seem to make a heck of a lot of sense.

drag an drop to use uploaded items.

also theres several topics going on about this.
there seems to be no options available.

the default upload folder is /wp-contents/uploads/-year-/-month-

A very unlogical thing if you ask me. Also removing the options isnt very ‘flexible’. There are several other upload plugins who offer better options and functionality… is what i use. (NO rte support YET, this is coming soon as i understand it from the author)

Wow–*no* option to change the upload directory? That’s kind of absurd. Will all the other great things you can do with WP, you can’t change something like that? Crazy…

also what i miss are some settings for filetypes and stuff

Good point. Thanks for your replies, Shrikee. Here’s hoping the WP devs will make a change for WP2.1 🙂

i attempted a plugin for this but so far im unsuccessful…

the database values seem unused or something… not sure on how to fix it…

    Damn–well, thanks for trying!

I wouldn’t be adverse to just digging into the WP code itself to change the default uploads directory. I just don’t know where to begin or how many files would ultimately have to be tweaked.

Well the idea of plugins is to prevent that.

There are some plugins out there to allow fileuploads 🙂

No, I understand why plugins exist, but when no one makes one, sometimes just getting down and dirty yourself is easiest. And yeah, I’ve tried some that allow file uploads but none work for me. C’est la web. 🙂

I found the below URL for changing the file upload directory:

However, I’m now using Post Upload and Paste which is a great plugin that puts an upload button right on your write page. It’s designed for 1.5, but seems to work just fine for me in 2.0. Get it here:

Now I just need to know how to change the file upload extensions and file upload size limit. Maybe I have to dig right into my database?
