• Hi guys,

I have 3 pages so far. I use oceanwp on all of them. One of them just lost all widgets (About Me, Contact Info, Custom Links, Custom Menu, …) and the footer disappeared. Could have happened after an update. Here are the things I tried so far, all without success:

    1. Roll back theme version to the one that works on the other pages
    2. Deactivate theme, activate theme
    3. Delete theme, install theme

Now, I am afraid to update on the other pages.

    What could be the problem?
And what could be a remedy?

    Thanks for your help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

I just visited your site and find everything is there. Will you please elaborate your issue and which page you updated?

There is no footer anymore on http(s)://ehlersanalytics.com.

In the WP backend under Appearance > Widgets all the oceanwp widgets (about me, contact info, …) are not there anymore. On the other domain pages I can still see them (maybe because I didn’t update yet). See for example this page http://immobilienbewerter.online still has the footers as I’d like to have them. And that is because under Appearance > Widgets I still see the oceanwp widgets available.

You need to check settings in the customizer.

go to customize > footer widget

They are also not there. This would be one way to select them. But in order to select them, they would need to be available first, which they aren’t.

Can I just copy paste them from another site? If so, in which folder would I need to look to find the widgets?

    Hi,

You can’t copy paste but you can import/export to do it.
Go to the site from which you want to export.

Dashboard > tools > export > widgets and export the file from here.

Now login to your current website in which you want to import.

Dashboard > tools > import and select the downloaded file from the above step and click on import button.

Note- It can create duplicate widget if the same widget already exists in your site. Try removing it manually if this happens.

Please follow @apprimit suggestion and let us know if it works for you.

    Hi Amit,

if I follow your approach I am stuck at export since I can only choose to export Posts, Pages, My Templates, Posts, Posts, My Library, Media. No idea why Posts is listed three times. Anyhow, I can’t select widgets.

    Any other ideas?

Use widget importer/exporter plugin for widget setting.

I forgot to attach the link.here is the plugin you need to use – Widget importer and exporter

    Hi Amit,

I installed the widget importer and exporter. Exported from the site where the footer widgets still work and then imported into the malfunctioning site. Unfortunately, that didn’t work:

    Default Sidebar
Search No Title Widget already exists
Recent Posts No Title Widget already exists
Recent Comments No Title Widget already exists
Archives No Title Widget already exists
Categories No Title Widget already exists
Meta No Title Widget already exists
    Footer 1
ocean_about_me Über uns Site does not support widget
    Footer 2
ocean_contact_info Kontakt Site does not support widget
    Footer 3
ocean_custom_menu Navigation Site does not support widget
    Footer 4
ocean_social Social Media Site does not support widget

    Anything else I could try?

Go to Appearance > Widgets and do the necessary setting for the widgets. Did you install Ocean Extra plugin?

How am I supposed to make the settings there when the widgets are missing?

I have Ocean Extra Version 1.4.26 installed.

    Saw this:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/missing-widget-after-update/

But I use 5.6, which seems to be ok. I could switch to 7.0 or 7.1, but they are not considered stable and I don’t want to mess with my pages for just the footer.

But then I should be able to fix the issue by rolling back Ocean Extra, right? Which version has the last stable footer?

Apparently, some more people have problems with the footer after one of the latest updates:

    https://reallygoodread.com/oceanwp-theme-not-fully-functional-when-ocean-extra-plugin-is-active/?cn-reloaded=1

    I’ve the same issue here.

    under php 5.4.5
Ocean extra 1.4.29 widgets all disappear
    Ocean extra 1.4.2 runs well.

    under php 5.6
Ocean extra 1.4.29 have no issue.

It’s hard for me to change the php version on shared server
so please make sure Ocean Extra more reliable.
