Support » Plugin: Product Feed PRO for WooCommerce » all products duplicated in feed

  • Resolved deedgess

Product feed pro has been running perfectly well – providing a google ads feed.

Now, all of a sudden, EVERY product is listing twice in the feed – google finds twice as many products, but only list them once – however, I need to understand why the plugin is suddenly providing a file twice the size needed?…. seems like it must be due to a plugin update, since i’ve not even looked at the filters/settings since originally setting it up – and the problem has only just occurred.

    Hi deedgess,

Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us. Sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with your product feed.

The releases of the last couple of weeks were no major ones and could not have caused the behavior you are seeing.

Could it be you activated the “include product variants” option so the feed now also included variants (that look similar) that were not in before?

You claim all products are in the feed twice, did you check the feed itself and see products with an identical product ID (g:id) in the feed?

    All the best,
    Eva

to be clear – 108 products are listed in the feed – in rows 2-108. they are then repeated, exactly, in rows 109-215. The only row that is not duplicated is the headings in row 1.

Google registers that it has received 214 products – with no issues … but lists (correctly) 108 products. – it doesn’t really cause a problem at this volume, since google is correctly ignoring the duplicates. However, it is doubling the feed size, which would become an issue with larger feeds…

    Hi deedgess,

We cannot reproduce the issue at hand, all works fine for us on our development servers. Judging from your email I believe you have created a Google Shopping feed in CSV which apparently got stuck during processing and accidentally processed your products twice. When you did not make any change to its configuration than most likely the feed will revert back to its original size.

In general we advise to create Google Shopping feeds in XML as it is way less prone to errors and a lot easier to read.

    All the best,
    Eva

    Thanks Eva,

    But, alas – no …

I have switched to xml format feed and refreshed it – uploaded the resultant xml feed to google, with the same issue replicated.

    Variants remain switched off.

Exactly the same issue as before unfortunately…

    Hi deedgess,

Can you send us the plugin debug.log?

Instructions on how to retrieve the log file can be found here: https://adtribes.io/send-your-debug-log-to-support/

This will help us to understand how you have configured your product feed.

    Best,
    Eva

    Hi,
I followed the instructions to add &debug=true to the manage feeds page url, hit return and received an error page telling me that i don’t have permission to view that page…

    Hi deedgess,

Thanks for sending over the debug.log. I checked and your feed really only has 106 products in it.

    When opening the feed:
    https://www.thetoycentre.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/woo-product-feed-pro/xml/6bb4169475e60057282dd601f6cdc35b.xml

You can do a count on the amount of <items> in the feed, which is a 106.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/jcov6mwi95pqlo1/106-1.png?dl=0

And also, the statistics of the feed/plugin are showing a 106 items, see:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/f5b9hwek8425l7b/106-2.png?dl=0

So it seems the feed is just fine. Didn’t you accidentally tell Google to retrieve your product feed twice in Google’s merchant center instead of only once?

    All the best,
    Eva

We have experienced the exact same problem at our site; kuriosa.dk the last couple of weeks. The .csv feed created by product feed pro in woocommerce contained 20000 products yesterday. The same .csv feed created today contained 21057 products where nearly 1000 products are duplicates.

    Product variations are deactivated.

This is a BIG problem because it creates conflicts with an external system that use this feed to add our products. We have bought the premium license yesterday but this failure is still there?

Looking forward to hear from you.

UPDATE: For the record, we never did get to the bottom of this. The feed auto-regenerated against the confirgured schedule over-night – Google ads fell back in love with it .. and everything has been fine since. Always a bit of a concern when glitches like this rear up – especially when you can’t pin down a cause – no idea when / if it will happen again!….

    Hi mikkelveldt,

Thanks for reaching out and sending over the debug.log well before we would ask for it 🙂

You state there are duplicate products in this feed:
    https://kuriosa.dk/wp-content/uploads/woo-product-feed-pro/csv/74513c7f5e8c66eb37de52e61868af5d.csv

Could you mention a couple of those duplicates? Ideally the ‘Bognummer’ for those.

    Thanks!
    Eva

    Hi Eva,

I have used the tool “https://textmechanic.com/text-tools/basic-text-tools/remove-duplicate-lines/” to check for duplicates which states that there are 599 duplicated lines.

    Some of the ID’s are:
    59574
    59568
    59523
    59559
    59459
    59450
    59419
    59400
    59377
    59374

Looking forward to hear from you.

    Hi mikkelveldt,

Thanks. We have set up a test custom feed on our development server with the exact same settings as your product feed. We will have to let it run for a couple of automated updates to see if we also get duplicate products.

    I will keep you posted.

    Best,
    Eva

    Hi mikkelveldt,

Do you happen to have WPML installed? We are still investigating the issue and it might be related to WPML.

    Thx
    Eva
