# All posts under one subdirectory

 * I’m looking to have all of my _posts_ appear under the /news/ subdirectory, as
   wordpress.org does.
 * Under Permalink Settings, if I choose a custom structure of `/news/%year%/%monthnum%/%
   postname%/` for the page permalinks, this works fine, and I get nice addresses
   like /news/2010/04/test-article
 * However, as soon as I enter `news` as my Category base, the links for the individual
   articles fail to work and result in 404 errors. Is there any reason why these
   two won’t work at the same time?
 * Also, how have WordPress.org set up a list of most recent posts, category links,
   etc at [http://www.wordpress.org/news/?](http://www.wordpress.org/news/?) Has
   a page been created for this, using a dedicated page template, or is there a 
   way for WordPress to automatically generate an archive of all posts at this address?
 * Any help anyone could provide would be great. Thanks.

 * A solution that might work for you:
 * 1) Create a page named ‘News’ using (probably) the ‘default’ template.
    2) Go
   to Settings->Reading, click the ‘static’ radio button, and set your blog page
   to the news page you just created. I think you will probably also have to set
   the static front page, which may be a problem with this solution. Our designer
   pretty much always wants a front page that isn’t the blog page so it works out
   for me.
