All PayPal Checkout orders are triggering PayPal recurring payments
-
Every order that goes through PayPal Checkout is triggering an entry on the ‘Recurring payments dashboard’ in PayPal, even for simple (non-subscription) products.
That page in PayPal has this description…
“Use this page to manage the following types of payments from your customers:
-Subscriptions
-Automatically billed payments
-Installment plan payments”…and I’m not sure which of those types of payments is being triggered (the customers aren’t being charged more than once, which is good) but regardless, it doesn’t make any sense to me why this is happening.
Occasionally, I get an email that says customer X “has cancelled the following billing agreement with you” which tells me the customers are seeing this on their end as well.
PayPal support says: “The only reason a recurring payment profile would have been created is if you have some sort of subscription button on your site. When they checkout, it creates that profile.”
But these are simple products – not subscriptions.
I see this has been happening since I switched to WooCommerce last fall.
And there are no logs for today that may give me a clue.
Any thoughts?
