All of my plugins just disappeared (4 posts)

    Hey everyone!

    Something very weird just happened.

Been using wordpress for years, never had an issue - Everything was working fine this morning and made no changes that I can think of - Went to my Installed Plugins tab and every installed plugin was showing a "plugin has invalid header" error message, when they had been working fine minutes before.

I refreshed the page and all of my plugins have now completely disappeared.

Any ideas what has happened and how to fix it?

Were you using the MailPoet plugin? If so, please refer to http://blog.sucuri.net/2014/07/mailpoet-vulnerability-exploited-in-the-wild-breaking-thousands-of-wordpress-sites.html

Also if so, if you can restore a backup of your site prior to the issue, that would be best.

I was using MailPoet - I found a line of script at the top of all the PHP files in my plugin directory - went through and removed all of those and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Excellent, but please keep in mind when dealing with hacks that removing the symptom may not remove the problem.

Remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you're done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.
