log in admin panel and switch to default permalinks and see if the links works
If you still have problem try and rename .htaccess file in wordpress folder and see if that solves the problem
govpatel
Thank you so much for your prompt response.
Permalinks is set to default.
(I’m not a big fan of renaming files…to many downstream issues.)
There is an underlying problem here which I believe is not related “renaming” files.
This is a basic configuration issue.
Any other thoughts RE No links working?
Thanks again.
Still working on this issue (No links working)
I’ve noticed that some of the older versions of WP support recomended downloading the contents of the WP folder — but NOT the WP folder itself.
I currently have all the WP files in a WP folder.
Could this be an issue?
First post incorrectly listed the website. It is:
http://www.unitedearth.us
and
http://www.unitedearth/wordpress
my fat fingers have been desciplined!
Im getting tired…. here is the correct WP blog:
http://www.unitedearth.us/wordpress
triple espresso is on the way
Looks to me like something in your root domain is re-writing all urls. Do you have an .htaccess file in your root folder?
esmi
thanks for your help…
I currently do NOT have an .htaccess file in my root folder!
I checked my download from WP and did not see it in there either.
whats my next step?
Thanks
Well there’s nothing wrong with the permalinks on your site that I can see. But something outside of WordPress is redirecting them all to your main site.
OK…back to the basics.
I have uploaded the WP folder and all of it’s files to my website.
The WP folder is placed in the root directory of my Web site : http://www.unitedearth.us
WP has been installed and I can access the Admin panel and make a post.
After that it’s all downhill…
What about the “missing .htaccess file?
Thanks again
Is Askimet an issue?… this anti spaming program seems to be heavily favored by WP since I get a “Akismet is almost ready. You must enter your Akismet API key for it to work.” header on my admin page. I can’t get rid of that “reminder” until I sign up.
I went pretty far in getting it set up…until 5 pages deep into their “setup” before they asked me for a Credit Card number.
You have a another site in your root domain. Something in that site – not WordPress – appears to be redirecting all urls.
did you drag the child slightly to right under the parent in custom menu
After speaking with GoDaddy.com, their Word Press expert told me that the .htaccess file should be in the _dbbackup folder.
That’s what they said…. however esmi and govpatel seem to indicate that it should be in the root folder.
Does this work for you?
That depends upon what that .htaccess file is for…
