Since recently, probably since the 2.7.0 update all comments on our page are rejected with one reason:

    “Bitte Kommentar hunzufügen”

which is by the way a WRONG german translation for “Please add comment”

Please correct this text to “Bitte Kommentar hinzufügen” and remove the bug… 🙂

The translation is coming from your theme and not from ASB 😉

    You can change it here:
    https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/quark/de/default?filters%5Bstatus%5D=either&filters%5Boriginal_id%5D=441715&filters%5Btranslation_id%5D=18350287

About the bug: We need some more info from you to debug this, please.

Are you using Chrome? Is the Autofill feature enabled?
Do you have the same problem with other browsers (Firefox, Safari, etc.)?
Is the problem still there if you disable the Autofill feature?

Thanks for your report and help!

    All the best,
    Torsten

Hi Torsten, thanks for the info about the translation, I will fix it there. 🙂

Yes, the problem is the same in all browsers we have tested (Chrome and Firefox) with or without login, autofill deactivated.

There always is the message “Please add a comment”

If you have a dev/staging environment, you can try to deactivate all other plugins and use a default theme to test if the problem persists.

If not, you can enable them step by step to find the problematic plugin/theme.

Maybe an interfering plugin or a problem with the theme.

I will try to reproduce the problem with your theme, too.

    All the best,
    Torsten

Are you using a caching plugin? If yes, did you delete the cache after the update to 2.7? We changed some things which could lead to this problem if you didn’t update the code (which is the case when the old cache files are still in use).

Zend OPCache is activated for php on our server, but no other WordPress cache. It’s a live system. I will try changing the theme and turning off all other plugins during the night and report here.

    Hi there,

we’ve got the same issue with ASB 2.7.0.

After going back to a Twenty-Theme and deactivating one plugin at a time, we found out that in our case the plugin “Instant Comment Validation” (v. 1.1.0) was involved with this issue. Since we’d like to have an instant validation for the comments (instead of getting redirected to an error page), we hope that somebody of you can find a solution.

@zodiac1978: So, maybe we should address this issue to the developer team of the Instant Comment Validation plugin as well?

    Cheers,
    Yvonne

@tarjanyela Although the result is identical this is a complete different problem. Your problem is in fact the Instant Comment Validation plugin, which conflicts with our bot detecting system.

At the moment this is not an easy fix on our side. Maybe the developer from Instant Comment Validation can help.

For the future we try to give a notice or disable the conflicting parts if those plugins are active too:
    https://github.com/pluginkollektiv/antispam-bee/issues/64

@w-sky Any news on that? Have you seen this thread? https://wordpress.org/support/topic/comments-not-working-after-update/

There is a hotfix which can maybe help.

    All the best,
    Torsten
